what we do

Cave Dog is a general service design firm - good design and communication is what excites us, not a particular type of project or client.

Any project can be filled with problems and pitfalls. Conversely, any project can be fun and engaging. Often, which way the pendulum swings depends on the chemistry between designer and client. We work hard to make difficult projects more pleasant for everyone involved, resulting in better design solutions and more effective communications.

Process
Cave Dog works with many clients over a period of years, helping out on dozens of projects. We also handle plenty of "one-off" jobs for clients we may never see again.

In all cases we spend time getting to know the client and understanding the best we can the unique requirements for each project. The designs which evolve from this process are the result of a collaboration between us and the client - drawing on talent from each side.

How we work
When we meet with a new client for the first time, our primary goal is to learn as much as we can about the client's business. If it is a small food shop with only a single location, that shop's needs and goals are very different from a nonprofit group with national reach. Even though both may need something that, on paper might be nearly identical in description, the final product of our involvement will likely be very different. Deservedly so.

Fees
Each client and each project is unique. For this reason, we do not offer a standard price list for particular types of web sites or printed pieces. We charge variable hourly rates, depending on the type of work and the level of expertise required.

We will meet with you to discuss your project in detail, then develop a comprehensive estimate - free of charge, of course.
